Hey, everybody!

So the end of August is nearly upon us and I know I’ve been promising a “STORY THUS FAR…” for a while, so here it is! Let me know if I’ve missed anything! I’d also like to get some TO DO stuff out of the way, too if that’s all right.

This entire time, Garrus has been keeping IC notes on what’s been going on. I’ve sort of combined it with an OOC FAQ sort of thing, but it’s a mess right now. Apologies for that! You can find it here, though! If anyone has any suggestions to make that post less of a travesty, I’m all ears! If you’re new to the plot/cast/etc., I suggest reading that first. We’ll be happy to answer any questions, though!

On that note, we have a few newcomers (both to the cast, and to the plot as a whole!) so I’d really like it if we could maybe pull together an even bigger “STORY THUS FAR…” going all the way back to when the Purist plot just started. Maybe we can make a Google Doc or something? It would pretty much be a way to let us pull together our characters’ paths into a single place where we can make a comprehensive story. Who knows, it may help us unlock plot stuff in the future, too! It’s something to think about at least.

I’d also like to propose the idea of maybe bringing in personal character arcs, kind of inspired by the fact that this particular plot revolves around Joker and something that would really alter his character, how he’s played, development, etc. It would be kind of cool to maybe include a lottery system where people who’d like to do a plot that would help develop their character(s) can volunteer, and then get picked at random to do something that will not only push forward the overall Purist storyline, but also help jumpstart that character’s development. Also, depending on the plot that’s happening, we can have more than one character getting an arc at once.

For example, let’s say I’d like to explore Garrus’ love for turian chocolate. Somehow in his quest to find the ultimate bar of chocolate, he discovers a button that would destroy the entire Thor, and now everyone must keep it out of Purist hands! DUN DUN DUNNNN!!! In doing so, Garrus learns that not all chocolate is created equal, the team manages to uncover more data about the Purists, and everyone unlocks the ability to fart rainbows.

…Obviously these arcs would be way more thought out than that, but shhh.

Now, an issue I can see with something like this is that it can get kind of repetitive in terms of plotting (character(s) get singled out, everybody fights the bad guys, piece of the puzzle is uncovered, go home), so I’d really like to hear any/all opinions! Maybe we can come up with some story stuff? Want to add onto this idea? Think it’s poop? Let’s get some discussion going!

But enough with the announcements! Let’s get down to business to defeat the Huns.

So for anyone who’s keeping track, there have already been a couple of posts setting up the plot for September, which I’ll do a recap for at the end. If you haven’t seen them yet, or need a refresher on what’s going on, here’s a compiled list of them!

Now with all that out of the way, Here’s the last post where we went over the gist of the story stuff. Since then, we’ve cemented these bits:

• The Avengers part of AEGIS will be patrolling areas where these weapons have been sighted/used/or happen to pop up. This will be an open log that everyone can join. PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THE PLOT WHO ARE JUST TUNING IN? THIS MAY BE A GOOD GATEWAY FOR YOU! HEROES/VILLAINS/ETC.
  
• Loki’s back, and is this time working with Kamui (who is in turn working for the Purists)! Goals are to create mayhem with the group Thor is helping bring together (AEGIS) and show just how weak-willed mortals are when it comes to horrible weapons.
  
• Dave Nails will be spreading information about the guns to the general public. (Going to triple check with Jess on this, but I’m pretty sure it’s good to go!) Hopefully this will drum up more IC/OOC interest!
  
• ???
  
• Profit!
  

With all of that out of the way, I’d like to use this post to maybe work out a rough timeline for things to go down. This will probably be the plot for all of September, so we’ll have a month to get everything done. It may bleed a bit into October, but hopefully not!

The main plot points we need to cover aaarrrree:

• Large wave of microwave guns on the streets of the Thor
  
• Joker’s kidnapping
  
• Release of information to the general public
  
• Finding and destroying the guns / Rescuing Joker / Confronting Purists and stealing data
  
• Final confrontation with Loki and Kamui (former on the ship, latter on the planet)
  
• ICly Coming up with a plan to fix Joker's fucked-uppery
  

So if we can get a rough timeline together for these events, we should be good to go! Everything else is up to player discretion/doesn't need to be plotted to the final detail.

There's no real plan right now, to be honest, mostly because a lot of this stuff is being played by ear. What I'm hoping will happen (and this will be covered in an OOC post to the entire comm) is that we can offer openings for players to join in. Kind of like with how's been mentioned in the post above-- where interested players can throw their characters in open logs, and organically team up with AEGIS.

Other ways can include like how Minato brought in Minako. As easy as it would be, the group can't just throw up a sign up sheet for people to sign, you know? But if you have any ideas of your own, I'd like to hear those, too!

When we were talking about it before, I was thinking that the Avengers would be starting to patrol the ship and take down bad guys. The open log could be a thread for each Avenger (and whoever else is doing a patrol). Since the superheroes are anything but subtle (guy in shiny armor and cape, guy in red and gold armor, giant green rage monster) they're going to be plenty visible. It should be easy enough for anyone to tag in as a witness, a victim, someone diving in to help them (or hinder them), whatever works for the player. Once the patrol incident is over they can volunteer or be asked to help the group. Does that make sense?

Maybe it don't have to be 'character(s) get singled out, everybody fights the bad guys, piece of the puzzle is uncovered, go home' kind of thing, but maybe end it with some of them fall into a trap by the Purists and have to be saved by another character or something.

And I have a question or two. Sorry if it's been answered already in your post.

1) When is the exact date the open log post will show up? As much as I want to, I'm not sure if I can throw Dedede in there. It depends on things.

2)...can't think of another one yet, sorry :p

That can definitely be something we can do for an arc in the future! It's a good idea (and will help shake things up a bit!)

To answer your question, we don't have an exact date for the open log post just yet-- that's something that we'll hopefully have figured out soon! If I had to guess though, it would be in the first week of September. But that's only a guess.

I'll try to jump in the open log. The problem with an airheaded character is that she won't notice anything until someone comes up ICly and says HEY WANNA FIGHT CRIME. Gym and floating pink thing that creates illusion shields up for help as always. o7

Yes, that can work. I mean she has her own defense but the weapons would take her by surprise, not being used to them, and people get her nevous. Give her giant dragons, no problem, but mean ugly men? XD Once her savior makes some explanations she can send the Pokémon to the patrol too.

Seeing as how I could use more things for Miss Darkhunter here to get into, I think I'd be interested in finding an in for her with all this going on. This might not be kosher or something along those lines, but I could see her taking and attempting to harbor some of these microwave guns to possibly sell at a later date. Along with feigning ignorance if asked about them, unless there's a price involved.

She's not on any side at the moment, considering she herself isn't too knowledgeable regarding the Purists and AEGIS or nothing. mostly because i haven't paid the best attention hahaha orz

Also, I most likely may jump into the open log, depending on a few things on my side!

I'd definitely like to jump in... somehow! ADMITTEDLY I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FOLLOW THE PLOT SINCE THE BEGINNING but I am sort of dumb so that didn't completely work out. In any case, uhh... I've sort of set up M'gann to get involved (she's at least keeping an eye out for Kamui causing trouble after his post) and she's a superhero so... yes!! And Xion might get involved too for the ACTION I... guess. idk I just woke up I'LL MAKE MORE SENSE LATER BUT YES I WOULD LOVE TO GET INVOLVED.

I have an idea that I discussed with fem Shepard-mun and she suggested that I post it here:

I have the okay that this will be done later on in the plot, but is best for the rest of the crew involved to read this. The idea is for Dedede to take charge at being a leader, except that he doesn't and gets put in his place. If he does work beforehand, he'll get tired of it and will be like "I'm the king, I shouldn't be doing this. I should be the leader!" Or butt in and put in his 2 cents worth when everyone talks later on or something along those lines.

I don't want to step on any toes, so is wondering if everyone's okay with this and if so, when's the exact time Dedede can do this?

I'm honestly not sure if something like this can fit into this particular story arc. BUT, it could be something to do after this is all said and done, with Dedede being introduced to AEGIS during September. Maybe this can be an October thing? A little bit of comedy to offset all of the serious business would be welcome!

In fact, if you like, I can have Dedede complain about not being a leader and stuff once the plot is done and over with. Like he'll approach the crew and tell them off or something.
